Brewery Hopping Without Leaving the City Limits
Philadelphia’s got a beer scene that punches way above its weight. You probably won’t be hard pressed to find bars serving up your hazy IPAs, your crisp lagers, or, my personal favorite, a tart sour, but it’s nice to know that you don’t need to venture outside the city to hit a full brewery crawl. Here are our current favorites for your next hop-fueled route, full of breweries pouring fresh beer within Philly proper.
Via Attic Brewing Company’s Google My Business
Human Robot
Known for blending traditional European styles with American craft creativity, Human Robot delivers big on lagers and Czech pours. Their milk tubes (literally foam-forward mugs) are an experience. Their Kensington taproom also just feels like a friendly, beer-nerd clubhouse.
Attic Brewing Co.
Small but mighty, Attic brings the community vibes with locally inspired names and flavors. Their taproom often hosts live music and open mic nights. Come for the “Bloodhound Brown,” stay for the backyard hangout energy.
Fermentery Form
This hidden spot is all about mixed fermentation and barrel-aged sours. Think wild, funky, and totally unique. It’s a little off the beaten path and only open on select days, but it’s well worth planning around.
Two Locals Brewing
Philadelphia’s first Black-owned brewery is currently nomadic. They’re popping up at beer fests, markets, and collab spots while working toward their own space. Keep an eye out for their Nubian Brown Ale or Pasta Shapes.
