How to Spend Halloween Day Before Monster March

Halloweekend is finally here! And if your Saturday plans currently consist of doomscrolling through costume photos and wondering what everyone else is doing, we've got a better idea.

There's plenty happening around the city before Monster March lands in Center City tomorrow night. But instead of waiting around for nightfall, you can make a full day out of October 31 before trading the daytime festivities for cocktails and a bar crawl.

Here's how to spend Halloween in Philly from morning until Monster March kicks off.

Philadelphia Bar Crawl

Start Halloween with a Little Neighborhood Hopping

East Passyunk Fall Fest: 11 AM–4 PM

If you're looking for a daytime Halloween celebration, head to South Philly for East Passyunk Fall Fest. The annual neighborhood festival is bringing more than 80 vendors, food and drinks, live music, pumpkin carving, costume contests, and trick-or-treating to Passyunk.

There's even a dog costume contest, so your four-legged friends can get in on the Halloween fun. It's a great excuse to spend a few hours exploring one of Philly's favorite neighborhoods before making your way toward Center City later in the day.

Halloween on South Street: Noon–5 PM and Beyond

South Street is getting in on the Halloween action, too. The neighborhood's Halloween celebration includes a candy crawl from noon to 5 PM, with participating businesses handing out treats throughout the district.

The fun continues with a costume promenade and vintage car parade starting at Fifth and South Streets at 1 PM, followed by trunk-or-treat activities at Headhouse Plaza from 1:30–4 PM.

And if you're not ready to call it a day after the daytime festivities, participating bars and restaurants will have Halloween specials starting at 5 PM as part of Boos & Brews.

Add a Little Halloween History to Your Day

Museum of the American Revolution

Want something a little different? Make a stop at the Museum of the American Revolution, which is hosting special Halloween programming on Saturday.

Learn about the spooky history behind the Headless Horseman during short in-gallery talks, scheduled from 11 AM–3 PM. You can also catch turnip-carving demonstrations from 11 AM–2 PM, exploring how early Americans carved turnips to ward off evil spirits before pumpkins became the Halloween staple.
