The Best Holiday Experiences in Philadelphia for People Who Love Christmas

If you're the sort of person who starts listening to Christmas music the second Halloween ends, this article was created specifically with your interests in mind.

Philadelphia doesn't hold back when it comes to the holidays. We’ve got Christmas markets, over-the-top decorations, seasonal pop-up bars, and enough twinkling lights to make Clark Griswold jealous. With that being said, it can also be a bit overwhelming if you’re new to the area or traveling from out of town, to know exactly what Philadelphia has planned for the holiday season. So, we've put together the ultimate Philly holiday bucket list for 2026.

Get Lost in the Christmas Village at LOVE Park

There’s nothing that says Christmas in Philadelphia quite like the Christmas Village. Every year, LOVE Park switches into a European-inspired holiday market filled with wooden vendor stalls, festive decorations, seasonal treats, and so much shopping.

Wander through the market with a warm drink and start your hunt for unique gifts while you snack on German-inspired food – what could be more Christmas than that? Plus, across the street at City Hall, you'll find even more seasonal attractions, including a Ferris wheel and double-decker working holiday carousel.

And if you need a little extra holiday cheer of the beverage sort, this year's market will feature two Snowflake Cocktail Bars, including one near the LOVE statue serving festive drinks like a toasted marshmallow martini. The Christmas Village officially opens November 26th with a preview weekend on November 21.

Sip Something Festive at a Christmas Pop-Up Bar

There's going out for drinks, and then there's going out for drinks surrounded by thousands of Christmas lights, giant ornaments, and bartenders serving cocktails.

Philadelphia's holiday pop-up bar scene is an attraction of its own. One longtime favorite is Tinsel, known for turning the Christmas spirit all the way up with extravagant decorations and themed drinks.

See Franklin Square Light Up for the Holidays

If Christmas lights are your love language, Franklin Square needs to be a stop you make this holiday season.

Gone is the park you have grown accustomed to year-round, and in its place you’ll find a glowing winter wonderland for its annual Electrical Spectacle Light Show, featuring hundreds of thousands of lights synchronized to holiday music.

While you’re there, you can also play a round of Chilly Philly Mini Golf, try street curling, or grab a seasonal cocktail at Frosty's Fireside Lodge, starting November 19th.

Go Ice Skating at RiverRink Winterfest

Something about ice skating under the stars makes even the coldest winter night feel a little magical.

The Independence Blue Cross RiverRink becomes a seasonal destination complete with ice skating, twinkling lights, fire pits, cozy cabins, and winter treats this November 27th.

It's perfect for a date night, a group outing, or an evening spent watching other people attempt to skate while you stay warm with a drink.

And if you're not exactly graceful on the ice? Zero judgment (from us at least). But the atmosphere alone makes it worth visiting.

Walk Through the Miracle on South 13th Street

Every holiday season, neighbors along this South Philly block turn their homes into an incredible display of lights, ornaments, inflatable decorations, and festive creativity.

It's one of those wonderfully Philly traditions that proves you don't need a massive budget or a ticketed attraction to create a little Christmas magic.

Head here starting November 28th, with displays typically starting up from 5–10 p.m.

Take a Holiday Lights Trolley RidE

Want to see the city's holiday lights without walking around in the freezing cold? Make a night of it with a holiday trolley tour.

Philadelphia's seasonal trolley experiences combine Christmas sightseeing with music, games, sing-alongs, and plenty of festive energy.

Some tours even offer BYOB options, making them even more fun for a group of friends looking to do something a bit different during the holiday season.

See the City's Official Christmas Tree at City Hall

At times, the simplest holiday traditions are the best ones. Every year, Philadelphia's official Christmas tree lights up the north side of City Hall, bringing a little extra magic to the heart of Center City.

Make an evening of it by checking out the tree, wandering through nearby holiday markets, and stopping somewhere for a cocktail afterward.

The lighting ceremony is scheduled for December 3rd, but the tree will be on display through January 2nd.

And if your idea of Christmas magic involves a cocktail (or two), you're in luck. Philadelphia's pop-up bars are getting ready to bring a ton of holiday cheer to the city.

Philadelphia really does has a way of making the holidays feel a little extra special. And since the holiday season only comes around once a year, you might as well make the most of it. Happy holidays!
