Broad Street Brewing Lands a Beer Garden in LOVE Park

Philadelphia's most recognizable vacant building just got a reason to stop being vacant. Broad Street Brewing opened a beer garden on the plaza surrounding LOVE Park's long-shuttered "flying saucer" pavilion, and it's quickly becoming one of the easiest additions to any Center City crawl.

What's There

The beer garden wraps the circular glass pavilion at 16th Street and John F. Kennedy Boulevard, the building most Philadelphians know simply as the saucer, a fixture of the park since 1960 that's sat empty for roughly a decade. Broad Street is running the outdoor space with seats split between cafe tables, picnic tables, and Adirondack chairs.

Food comes from a food truck parked on-site, made to order and served casual style: smashburgers, cheesesteaks, wings, fries, and a footlong mozzarella stick round out the menu. 

Why It's Worth Adding to a Crawl

It's a daytime-friendly, walk-up beer garden in the middle of Center City, which makes it an easy first or last stop for a crawl that also hits Rittenhouse or Old City. Pair it with a visit to the LOVE sculpture itself for the obvious photo op, and it works well as a lower-key counterpoint to a night built around cocktail bars or breweries with longer waits.
