New Openings Near South Street

South Street has always had a personality. A little weird, a little loud, sure. Sometimes unpredictable. But lately, something’s shifted.

The area isn’t just nostalgic chaos anymore, it’s getting a fresh wave of spots that feel intentional and a bit dangerous for your weekly plans.

If you’ve been looking for an excuse to spend more time around South Street and Queen Village, here are a few of the new names you’re about to hear everywhere.

Banshee

Banshee is not your typical South Street stop.

Located right on South Street, this modern American bistro leans into seasonal menus and a more curated dining experience.

The energy here is quieter than your usual crawl spot, but that’s the point. It’s more of a reset, if you will. A pregame that accidentally becomes the main event, or one drink that turns into multiple rounds and a full meal.

Side Eye

Side Eye feels like the friend who knows exactly where to go before everyone else does.

Tucked into Queen Village, it’s got that all-day, all-vibes kind of setup. You could walk in during the afternoon and it feels chill, and then somehow by the time night hits, it’s a completely different energy without ever forcing it.

The name alone tells you everything you need to know. Attitude, personality, and definitely not trying to be like everything else around it.

Val’s Lesbian Bar

This one matters.

Val’s isn’t just another opening, it’s a return. Philly has been missing a dedicated lesbian bar for years, and Val’s stepping in to fill that gap feels long overdue.

Val’s opening day is today, March 18th, in Queen Village, as the first lesbian bar in the city since 2021, and currently the only one in Philadelphia.

There’s a strong cocktail program, but the real focus is on creating a place where people actually want to stay, talk, dance, and come back again.

And that second floor? Already screaming future dance party potential.
