Summer Ale Festival Returns to Philadelphia Zoo This Saturday

Countless beer festivals ask you to stand around a parking lot. This one is begging you to stand next to a snow leopard enclosure with a flight of hard cider in hand, which is either the strangest or the best pitch for a Saturday night in Philadelphia, depending on how you feel about animals watching you drink. The Philadelphia Zoo's Summer Ale Festival returns this weekend, and if you haven't been, clear your schedule.

More Booze Than You Can Reasonably Sample

The lineup this year is running all things alcoholic, with 100 different types of beers, ciders, seltzers, meads, teas, spirits. If you're pacing yourself or driving home, there's real nonalcoholic representation too, including Heineken 0.0, NA Beer Club, and Naked Life.

Live music happens on the Impala Lawn Stage, with Nik Greeley and the Operators, Echo Kid, and Moonroof performing throughout the night, plus food trucks scattered across the Zoo's 42 acres so you're never far from something to eat between pours.

What You Need to Know Before You Go

This is a strict 21-and-up event, so no kids and you need a valid ID at the door. Tickets are only available in advance through the Zoo's website, so don't plan on buying at the gate.

A couple of logistics notes worth flagging: the event runs rain or shine, so dress for whatever the sky's doing. Parking is complimentary this year, but the shuttle from 30th Street Station that's run in past years isn't operating in 2026.

Why It's Worth the Trip

Every ticket sold directly supports the Zoo's animal care programs, so unlike a standard bar crawl stop, this one comes with a feel-good reason to pair with your drinking.Making a whole weekend of it? National Treasure Weekend is also happening in Old City through Saturday.
